Yarash Junior
Announces Retirement

I am the most fortunate of creatures. I have a beautiful and devoted wife, Ersee, sixteen lovely children, and many wonderful grandchildren, too. And I have a most honorable brother, whose running mate in the presidential campaign I have been since the great Hamster For President Political Convention of 2000. I hope that I have never disappointed him or any member of our family -- not a single one of our dedicated, hard-working staff, nor any among our many supporters and voters. Being a candidate for vice president of the United States has been an extraordinary honor, and I give you my solemn word that I have done all that was possible to live up to it.

However, due to a serious and incurable illness, I am no longer able to carry out the duties of a vice-presidential candidate. I shall therefore, as of this 29 January 2002, withdraw my name from the nomination. A successor will be chosen in due time. Until such time as my replacement is chosen, my picture shall appear on this web page because -- even in my weakened condition and regardless of what may happen in the coming days -- I remain one hundred pre cent with the campaign in spirit and intent.

I'd very much like to ask friends and family alike -- rodents, humans, critters of every kind -- to take up a cause you may know nothing about. It's called Cushing's Disease, and it affects the adrenal glands, causing rapid fur loss and making the skin turn hard and brittle, sometimes even bleeding. It's not a common disease among hamsters, but it happens. And it is treatable. But the form of medication best suited to hamsters is hard to get. I have been diagnosed with the disease and it will end my life, probably sooner rather than later.

To Ersee, my wife, I'd like to take this moment to thank you for being everything to me. Ersee has always been there when I most needed her. She's been kind and sweet and generous beyond what words can describe. I owe everything to her.

To Diddley, my dear brother, I wish you well in all you do. I could never properly express in words my gratitude to you for the confidence and trust you have placed in me. Know that I am and always will be with you in all that you do.

To my son Paddington who has worked so hard for our election, his devoted and brilliant wife Alison-Fur, and to all our admirable grandchildren -- especially Zebedee and Tennham -- I give you my fondest embrace. You are truly precious, all of you.

And finally, to my supporters and friends all over the world, please accept my love in return for your loyalty, which means more to me than anything in the world. May God love and bless all of you,

Yarash, Jr.
